How it works
gadgetmatcher does the technical research so you don't have to. Here's exactly how it works.
You can search gadgetmatcher in two ways. If you're a gamer, type any game title into the search bar — we'll look up its official system requirements and find laptops that meet them. If you're not sure what you need, use the category picker: choose from Gaming, Work & Study, Creative, Everyday or Developer and we'll match laptops to those needs.
Every laptop in our database has a CPU benchmark score and a GPU benchmark score — standardised numbers that let us compare machines fairly across brands and generations. When you search a game, we compare those scores against the game's minimum and recommended requirements. You can toggle between minimum (the laptop will run the game) and recommended (the laptop will run it well). Only laptops that meet the threshold appear in your results.
We sort results by price low to high by default, so the best value option is always first. You can re-sort by top rated, or filter by price range, operating system, or whether you need a lightweight machine. Every result shows the laptop's key specs, highlights like OLED display or long battery life, and a direct link to buy at the price we've found.
We don't sell laptops ourselves. When you click "Buy now", you go directly to the retailer's product page — Amazon UK, Currys, John Lewis, Argos, and others. The price you see is what we found at the time of our last update, but always check the retailer's site for the latest price and availability before purchasing.
FAQ
Our CPU and GPU scores are based on widely-used industry benchmarks and are normalised so they're comparable across generations and manufacturers. They're a reliable guide for matching laptops to game requirements, though real-world performance can vary depending on thermals, drivers, and other factors.
Minimum specs mean the game will run — but possibly at low settings or with reduced performance. Recommended specs mean the game will run well at medium to high settings. We always suggest aiming for recommended if your budget allows.
We update prices regularly, but laptop prices change frequently. The price shown is the last price we recorded. Always check the retailer's site for the current price before buying.
We're building our games database continuously. If a game you're looking for isn't in our database yet, try searching for a similar title or use the category picker instead.
A laptop that meets the requirements for one game will often meet the requirements for others too — especially if it's a well-specced machine. We don't artificially limit results.
We earn a small affiliate commission if you buy through our links. This doesn't influence our rankings — laptops are ordered by price, and our matching is based purely on specs. See our Disclaimer for full details.
